Buhari appoints new rector for Federal Poly, Bida

President Muhammadu Buhari has via a letter appointed Dr Baba Haruna as the Rector of the Federal Polytechnic, Bida, Niger State. The letter which was signed by the Minister of Education, Adamu Adamu, and was made available to newsmen on Wednesday, May 17, stated that the appointment which took effect from May 21 was for a period of five years. Relating the President’s approval, Adamu stated: “I write to convey to you the approval of Mr President, His Excellency, Muhammadu Buhari, GCFR, for your appointment as Rector of Federal Polytechnic, Bida, Niger State.” “The terms and conditions of service including remuneration and fringe benefits shall be as approved for Rectors of Federal Polytechnic,” he noted. It would be noted that befoee Haruna’s appointment as rector, he served as the Director, Quality Assurance at the polytechnic. President Buhari however, congratulated Dr Haruna and wished him a successful five years tenure in office.

Osun guber poll: Supreme court confirms Adeleke’s gubernatorial election victory

  The Supreme Court has declared Sen. Ademola Adeleke as the validly elected governor of the 2022 gubernatorial election in Osun State. The judgement held by the five-member panel of the Supreme Court, on Tuesday, May 9, stated that the Appeal Court correctly reinstated Ademola Adeleke as the Osun State Governor. The panel led by Justice John Okoro while passing the judgement prepared by Justice Emmanuel Agim dismissed the appeal filed by the former Governor Gboyega Oyetola, for lack of merit.

Apex court to deliver ruling on Osun state guber poll appeal

The Supreme Court is finally set to deliver its verdict over the appeal filed by the immediate former governor of Osun State, Gboyega Oyetola, against the election result that brought Sen. Ademola Adeleke to power, on Tuesday, May 9. The immediate past governor, Gboyega Oyetola is asking for the withdrawal and reversal of the March 25 Appeal Court ruling, Abuja Division, which upheld Adeleke’s victory in the July 17, 2022 gubernatorial election in the state. It would be recalled that the Court of Appeal, had ruled against the initial judgement by the Osun State Governorship Election Petition Tribunal which sacked Sen. Adeleke. It should be however, noted the decision of the Supreme Court to deliver judgement was made by a five-member panel of the Supreme Court after arguments has been taken from lawyers to parties on Monday, May 8.
