School proprietor escapes death
The proprietor of Ajoke Group of Schools, Alh Agbaje Olaitan Amida was reported to have sustained a fatal injury during distribution of gifts to Islamic faithfuls for the Ramadan festival. The primary school complex, which was the venue for the distribution, was located behind Luri Service Station, Badagry Expressway, Olorunda LCDA, Badagry Local Government, Lagos State, was jam-packed with a swollen number of people, numbering close to a thousand. As the crowd surged to get in simultaneously, the school fence reportedly collapsed, falling on the proprietor of the school, leaving a deep cut on him. Though, he was not hospitalized as he had a narrow escape.
In a chat with The Reality Newspaper, Alh. Agbaje said he started the outsretch of his arm to the needy ten years ago with just ten items, given to ten people. "That of this year is totally different as it shows that there is starvation in the country. I distributed 335 pieces of Semolina: 200 pieces of 2k.g of Semolina meant for general, 100 of 10k.g meant for relations, 135 pieces of 5k.g meant for the school staff but were later distributed to the public." The class of people who benefited the gesture were the vulnerable: Widows, Widowers, Physically-challenged, Aged and Applicants, including Christians and Non-moslems. The gesture was said not to have restriction as all tribes in the vicinity benefited. Alh. Agbaje who confirmed that the distribution of such items used to take place at the beginning of every Ramadan festival urged those who have more to give to the needy. Another of the impact of the Alh. was the navigation of the access road from his school to the major Badagry Expressway.
